I always like to do something sweet for my bosses on Bosses Day – that was October 16th, for those of you who don’t know.   Generally, it isn’t anything too extravagant, just a fun little way to say “thank you” for all they do because I really do work for a wonderful group of people.  I feel blessed to not only have a job, but one that I enjoy (most days) and where my employers actually care about me.

Last year I made the “Thank You Berry Much” hand sanitizers HERE and this year I had a couple of other ideas I was tossing around.  I settled on Starbucks gift cards and tried to come up with a creative way to gift them (a card in an envelope is simply too boring). I thought I was being terribly creative when I thought of “Thanks A Latte”… that is, until I googled it and apparently I am not nearly creative as
I thought.  Bummer.  However, it made assembling my gifts a million times easier when I found a free printable from Jasey’s Crazy Daisy to make the tags.  Awesome!!!
Originally I had thought of buying dollar store mugs and decorating them with each boss’s name, but decided it would be easier to decorate a disposable Starbucks cup and fill it with green bag filler.  The fella at Starbucks was kind enough to give me the cups with the purchase of the gift cards and I thought it would be cute to attach the printable tag to the straw with a hole punch.

I wish I knew the secret to writing on the Starbucks cups, every permanent marker I tried looked like junk on the plastic, so I finally gave up and wrote on the gift card envelope instead.  The secret to removing the smudgy writing??? Antibacterial gel – I used my Carribean Escape Pocket Bac from Bath and Body Works.  Worked like a charm.

I filled the cup with green bag filler from the Dollar Tree and wiggled the gift card inside – because the gift card made the plastic bow slightly, the lid was a total pain to get on.

I cut out the “thanks a latte” tags from my cardstock (did I mention how grateful I was that the printable was FREE???) and since I didn’t have the right size circle punch, I just cut along the green outer circle.  Then I punched a hole in the tag and then forced the straw through it.

In the end, I had a cute and thoughtful gift for Bosses Day, and management all got a free latte.

[please ignore the poor photography above, yikes!]

Does anyone else do anything on Bosses Day to say thanks a latte and show your appreciation?
