Fall is here! The leaves are changing, the Pumpkin Spice Lattes are flowing and boots and scarves are starting to make appearances – or at least they are in other parts of the country. Here is sunny Southern California it still in the 70’s. But that won’t stop me from being festive and celebrating the season of burnt orange and hot chocolate!
This will be the first holiday season where Houston and I get to decorate OUR house, rather than decorating two different homes and I have a list a mile long of things I would like to do. You better believe that I have fall fever and I can’t wait to celebrate the upcoming holiday and husband and wife!
First on my list was an easy fall DIY decor project. We don’t have a mudroom/formal entryway, so a stone table and a pillar serves as my holiday decoration station.
Here is what I needed to make my entryway feel festive:
Large vase
Straw
Faux leaves/twigs (you can use real ones if you are fortunate enough to experience seasons where you live)
Mini pumpkins (I got mine at the grocery store)
Ikea frame
Chalkboard print by Jessica Garvin.
Candle – the more it smells like pumpkin pie or marshmallows, the better!
“Welcome Fall” Art
The first thing I did was clean out my vase. I use it for other projects throughout the year, so I needed to make sure it didn’t have anything stuck to the inside of it.
I carefully added the straw to the vase making sure it didn’t get packed too tightly inside while also making sure I didn’t make a complete mess all over the floor. I think it looks better when the straw looks fluffy in the vase.
Add the leaves/branches/twigs and arrange them to your liking.
Group the candle, frame and mini pumpkins around the vase. Try to add various heights to add visual interest to the display; mini cake stands, books or candle sticks make great bases for the pumpkins.
I love this easy fall DIY decor and especially love that I can put it together in less than 15 minutes. Now that is my kind of decorating!
