Mini Pinata Boo Kit

Have you ever been BOO’d? Do you know what that is? Well, I think it is a super fun mixture of Secret Santa, Valentine’s Day, and ding dong ditching. Here’s how it works: you gather up fun supplies to create a BOO basket that is filled with candy and other fun treats and deliver it to a friend with a printable BOO card that you can download here. Then they have to BOO it Forward and BOO someone else.
I am always trying to inject a little fun and holiday decorations into the office; it is fun to decorate a corner of the break room and make festive treats for my co-workers. So I thought it would be fun to make some BOO kits for my co-workers to enjoy at their desks when the 3 o’clock sweet craving hits. – it shows no mercy.
Walmart has a huge selection of gift bags and party supplies, but instead of using the American Greetings® bags, I grabbed some tissue paper and decided I would make mini piñata BOO kits!
Mini Pinata Boo Kit Supplies:
- Empty Tissue Box
- Scissors
- Adhesive
- Paper Trimmer
- Tissue Paper (I chose to match the Ghostbusters® colors of black and green)
- Candy
Unfold your tissue paper and create one inch by six inch strips (one-inch-high and six inches long).
Create fringe on your tissue strip by cutting ¾ of the way up the strip. I found it was best to leave multiple layers of tissue together for the various cutting steps. Leave three strips unfringed.
Take your empty tissue box and add the unfringed tissue to the bottom of the box – this is so that the colors of the box don’t show through. Add your first row of fringed tissue paper all the way around the box. Repeat, working your way up the box and all the way around.
Transition to the other color if you would like – I love how the black and green reminds me of the slime from Ghostbusters®. Don’t forget that you could include Ghostbusters® on DVD and Blu-Ray as part of your BOO kit as well. Or watch a digital copy of Ghostbusters® on VUDU.
Fill your mini piñata BOO kit with assorted candy. I love the MARS chocolate favorites and Nut and Caramel Favorites; they include SNICKERS® Fun Size, M&M’S® Fun Size, TWIX® Fun Size, Skittles® Original Fun Size, and Starburst® Fun Size.I like to start shopping for Halloween candy early so I can use coupons and rebates along with the great prices at Walmart. BOO kits, Trick-orTreaters, and candy for myself, of course.
Now it is time to seal the BOO kits closed.
Cut a square of tissue paper the size of the tissue box and glue down with adhesive.
I wanted to make sure everyone knew there was a treat inside, so I wrote “Break Here” on the center of the cover.
