This season of life has been busy. Between working a full-time job, finishing school, getting married, and having a social life, I don’t have a ton of time to relax. There always seems to be a million things to do during the week and I just can’t seem to cross everything off my to-do list like I used to do. I just keep telling myself that this is a season that is almost over (come on graduation!), but the truth is that this “being an adult” thing isn’t going to get any easier. If anything, life will just keep getting busier as we get older, travel more, and take on a million home improvement projects.
Right now I really enjoy when I have a couple hours on the weekends to chill out with Houston or my girlfriends, curl up with a cozy blanket, and watch a fun movie. It is the perfect way to unwind and relax without spending a lot of money; that’s a win-win in my book.
Movie nights are simple and quick to set up whether it is just Houston and me or a group of our friends. Grab some popcorn, snacks, a drink, and you’re all set for a movie night. I decorated our console table right next to the kitchen so everyone could grab what they wanted before the movie started. We had typical movie snacks: different flavored popcorn, chocolate candies, peanuts, nachos, and I added some cupcakes in the mix because, well, I love cupcakes. I also had a couple different beverage options, but our group all opted for iced water for their movie beverage.
I even found movie themed napkins, plates, and cardboard boxes with cup holders for everyone to have their own lap-box of snacks just like at the movie theater; they helped corral the snacks and kept me from having to balance everything on my knees.
After the movie, I cleaned up the console table, which was pretty easy since most of the snacks had been consumed, and put out favor bags for my friends. Since most of us are busy during the week and look forward to every weekend, I wrote “The Weekend is only 5 Days Away” on each one and called it their Work Week Survival Bags. Everyone got a small bag of popcorn, candy, a coupon for a free movie rental, a sleeping mask, a cherry Chapstick, a glass and straw to keep, and Centrum vitamins* to help them get through the work week. I suggested everyone try new the raspberry VitaMints from Centrum because they are so delicious!
Remember how I said adulting was hard and I always have a million things to do? Well, one of the things is to remember to take my vitamins and I constantly forget to take them. Since I am trying to focus on a little more “self-care” during this busy season of life, I am a firm believer in keeping vitamins in my purse so I can take them with lunch; I can never remember to take them in the morning and I don’t always remember to take one before bed. Having them with me allows me to get my vitamins daily no matter where I am or what hat I am wearing at the moment. I can still get my vitamins while I am at work, in the car, or travelling internationally! I buy my Centrum VitaMints at Walmart on the vitamin aisle.
Since I love being able to cross things off a list, I created a label to put on the back of my vitamin bottle where I can put an “X” for each day I remember to take my vitamin. I also set an alarm on my phone to help me remember and so far I haven’t missed a day in two weeks.
I included a sticker for each of my friends in their work week survival bag so they can put it on the back of their Centrum vitamin bottle too. It is a simple label that can be printed at home (I used Avery labels) and you can print one if you want one by clicking this link. Happy vitamin taking, my friends!
So kick back, relax with your favorite movie and then enjoy staying healthy with simple solutions like Centrum Gummies and VitaMints during the work week. The next weekend is just around the corner!
