Bookkeeping Must-Haves for Creatives

Have you ever wondered what is on my supply list for bookkeeping must-haves for creatives? Well, I have been slowly adding all of my favorite products that are bookkeeping must-haves for creatives to my Bookkeeping Amazon list; that means you, small business makers, Etsy sellers, and influencers.

As creatives, sometimes the bookkeeping and receipt organizing of owning a small business doesn’t come as second nature. We would rather be crafting and creating instead of logging costs, receipts, and invoices. I get it, I am a creative too, I’ve just learned the hard way that bookkeeping is an essential part of my business.

So grab some pretty office supplies to make your bookkeeping more fun and easy to do. I don’t want you to learn all the hard lessons I did – take it from me, they weren’t fun.

Bookkeeping Must-Haves for Creatives:

A home printer. Being able to print out receipts and invoices is super important to a hands-on creative, like me. Even if you have gone digital with your receipts and other bookkeeping, it is important to have a printer to be able to print your reports and other data.
Binders or Magazine Holders to keep your organized paperwork. If you’re cranking out tons of paperwork you may need to invest in a good ‘ol fashioned filing cabinet.
Calculator. Take those numbers seriously and get them right. For a lot of creatives, numbers aren’t our strong suit. Don’t even try to do the math in your head.
Pretty Pens. For Writing notes, jotting down data, or checking off invoices.
A three hole punch. If you’re using binders for organizing your expenses, be sure to have a handy hole punch.
Stapler. You will need to staple receipts to expense logs, labels to invoices, and 100 other things.

Receipt Filing Systems:

I made an easy DIY Receipt box as my “drop zone” on my desk but you can use any method of receipt collection that works for you. The most important thing is that your drop zone is easily accessible and a place you will consistently put your receipts.

Acrylic Paper Tray with gold accent. This tray is really great if you have a desk or shelf space and have full-page invoices or receipts.
Gold Wire Baskets. These are great if you don’t have surface space but can hang your organization on a wall.
Acrylic Clipboards. I love the look of these clipboards. Hang all four on a wall or stand them up in a desktop organizer.
