I know I have been talking a lot about bookkeeping, but friends, that’s because I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I did! Bookkeeping is so much more than just being ready for tax season (although I think we could all agree that March would be a lot nicer without the panic every year). Today I am going to show you another way bookkeeping can help you with your small business with this free pricing guide.

I have told the story before, but here is the recap: When I sold wedding birdcages in 2012 I was shocked to find out that my total amount earned on each cage was a measly $2. I mean, I can’t even buy a Happy Meal for that! Knowing your total costs and how much you would like to make for each hour worked is an ESSENTIAL part of your product pricing strategy.

Don't undercharge and make $2 an hour.

I spill more of the beans and share all the (hard) lessons I have learned from 10+ years on the internet and share it all with you and show you how I keep the financial side of my online business organized in A Beginner’s Guide to Bookkeeping if you need a little extra kick in the pants to get started.

How Does This Guide Help My Online Business?

Knowing your total costs + your hourly rate will help you price your items correctly. Don’t end up like me and work for practically free. You’re in this to have an online business.

While I have most of my online business experience with blogging and Etsy, anyone with an online platform can use the pricing guide. If you’re making money, you need to price your items correctly.

What If My Items Are Already Listed?

There is no rule that says you can’t increase your prices.

Sure, some people might not like it, but your tried and true customers understand your worth as a creative.

In fact, if you haven’t increased your prices in 2022, consider this your permission to do so today. Inflation, shrinkflation, and changes to the cost of doing business (I am looking at you, USPS and Etsy Seller Fees) mean you have two choices: increase your prices or take a pay cut.

A Beginner's Guide to Bookkeeping for your online business. An e-book written by a content creator for other content creators to help your organize your business finances.

What If I Don’t Think My Item is “Worth” That Much?

Dear one. This is a mindset issue.

Your crafts, art, and creations are unique and one-of-a-kind. They are not something to discount and beg people to buy.

No.

You are talented. Your item is a premium item. You charge what you want, create a great product, and the customers will come.
