Last year I had a dear friend post an amazing truth on Instagram. Kait shares in a freelance for beginners post that she tries to get rejected close to 100 times a year. That is a lot of putting yourself out there in the world and she is bound to get some opportunities or some “yes” answers.

Well, this year I decided to pitch myself and some craft projects to a couple of businesses. I love to teach and especially love sharing my tips and tricks for crafting. Imagine my surprise when I pitched myself to Michaels Craft Stores for their Community Classroom and had a “yes” response in one day. One day, friends!

I created this easy diamond dish project that we could make together in the Michaels Community Classroom. Adhesive vinyl projects are a great place to start learning how to use your Silhouette Cameo 4 and this tutorial is a great example of weeding and applying vinyl to a blank trinket dish.

I was so nervous to teach my class at Michaels but it was fantastic and I had such a wonderful time. Since we all can’t be together in a classroom, keep reading to see how you can make a rose gold diamond dish trinket bowl for yourself.

Creating Your Rose Gold Diamond Dish:

Open Silhouette Studio®.

Select the Page Setup Window and adjust your cutting mat size to 12×12 (or the size mat you are using).

Download your diamond design from the Silhouette Design Store and then open your font in Silhouette Studio. Click File>Library>Library>Recent Downloads>Select your downloaded file.

Measure your dish and re-size your design to the correct space on your 12×12 template – be sure to move the design as a group so it keeps everything lined up.

Attach your Adhesive Vinyl to the cutting mat, color side up, and load into your machine.

Follow the prompts in the Design Studio for Adhesive Vinyl and double-check to make sure your design has been selected to cut.

Select “Send” to start cutting.

Press the down arrow on the touch panel to unload the cutting mat when your machine has finished cutting your design.

Preparing Your Rose Gold Diamond Dish:

Remove your sheets of Adhesive Vinyl from the cutting mat – go slow so it doesn’t curl.

Use your fingers or a weeding tool to remove the excess vinyl. Be sure to leave your design on the white backing sheet.

Creating Your Rose Gold Diamond Dish:

Place a piece of transfer tape over your diamond decal.

Use the scraping tool and scrape the transfer tape to make sure the design adheres to it.

Gently pull transfer tape up and make sure the entire design lifts with it.

Center your design on your dish and attach it from left to right. Make a snip in the transfer tape to be able to transfer the design without it getting bunched in the corners if your tape touches the edges of your bowl.

Slowly remove the transfer tape. Tip: pull from a corner and not the side to make sure each part of the design transfers completely to your dish.

Wouldn’t this rose gold diamond dish be the perfect bridal shower gift? I use mine for my favorite earrings and wedding ring. No lost earring backs for me!

2020 hasn’t exactly panned out to be what we all thought it would be but I am looking forward to getting back on the horse and pitching myself and my ideas a little more frequently. I have a long way to go to reach that 100 yearly goal.
